Hi, I am Jessica. I am pretty sure I have tried this whole “blogging” thing on at least two separate occasions. So, I guess 3rd time is a charm. You will notice my love for the number 3 while navigating through this page. I am wife to an amazing husband (JJ) whom I met and fell in love with when I was 15 years old (even though I didn’t know that until I was probably 20), mother to an incredibly smart, outgoing and courageous three year old son, Jackson, lover of Jesus, daughter, sister and friend.
I would never consider myself a “writer” just as many would not consider themselves a “runner” if all you do is a jog every now and again, but as I tell everyone, you are a runner the minute you put one foot in front of the other and get off the couch and run. So, I guess I am a writer. While I won’t say whether I am a good writer or a bad writer, I will leave that up to you., but I will say I am an honest writer, and sometimes a little too honest. So, bear with me as we navigate through this process together.
This blog is a work in progress, meaning I should have started it years ago. Looking back, I was too young, too naive and a little too scared to tell everyone my business, my very personal business. So, I am back tracking from the beginning with the hopes that someday I will get caught up to “real time” and will share the real, honest moments, questions, concerns, joys, trials, of parenting, especially parenting an adopted child.
We welcomed our son Jackson through a domestic infant adoption. We have a beautiful open adoption with Jackson’s birth family, including his biological mother, her parents, her grandparents and her sister and her family. I cannot wait to share our experiences with you all as we navigate through what it looks like to raise a child in a very open adoption.
So, sit back, grab a cup of good coffee and relax, we are about to get real.
This picture was taken at Jackson’s 3rd birthday and fits Heather and I perfectly!
